Capturing beautiful light at a Pambula NSW Home with Matt and Casey

Last November, I photographed Matt and Casey’s beautiful Pambula home for Country Style magazine, and it was one of those shoots that felt quietly special from the moment I arrived.

Matt and Casey’s style is thoughtful, relaxed and deeply personal. Their home is filled with second-hand finds, heirloom pieces and well-worn textures — the kind of spaces that don’t need much direction because they already tell a story. As an interior and lifestyle photographer, this is exactly what I’m drawn to: homes that feel lived in, layered and honest.

The house itself is beautifully considered, designed to work with the climate rather than against it. North-facing windows, exposed internal brick and clever energy-saving features create a sense of ease that you can feel as you move through the space. Light pours in softly, warming the rooms and highlighting the natural materials — a dream to photograph.

The heart of the home is the kitchen and living area, framed by exposed Victorian ash beams. It’s where family life happens — kids coming and going, music playing, Matt cooking while Casey moves between inside and the garden. I photographed slowly here, letting moments unfold, focusing on the way the house holds them all together.

Their connection to Pambula and the Sapphire Coast runs deep, and it shows. The garden, planted with native, drought-tolerant species after a challenging bushfire season, continues to evolve over time. Like the home, it’s not rushed — it’s intentional.

Photographing Matt and Casey’s home for Country Style was a reminder of why I love photographing interiors and real homes. It’s not about perfection or styling for the sake of it, but about capturing spaces that reflect the people who live there — their values, their rhythms and their story.
