From the rugged coastline to the quiet bush tracks, Bermagui has a way of slowing life down.
It's a place where children spend hours collecting shells, climbing over rocks, paddling in calm water and chasing waves long after the sun begins to set.
Those are the moments I love photographing.
If you're looking for a Bermagui family photographer who captures genuine connection rather than perfectly posed smiles, I'd love to help tell your family's story.
Quiet stretches of beach
Rugged coastal headlands
Beautiful lakes
Pristine boat harbor
What To Expect
My approach is simple.
I don't expect children to stand still.
I don't spend the session asking everyone to smile at the camera.
Instead, I gently guide your family into moments that feel natural and connected.
You might explore a beach together, collect shells, play games with the kids, cuddle up on a picnic blanket or simply wander while I quietly document the moments unfolding around you.
The result is a gallery that feels like your family — relaxed, genuine and full of life.
Take a Little
If you're holidaying on the Sapphire Coast, a family photo session is one of the few souvenirs that only becomes more valuable with time.
Years from now your children probably won't remember every café you visited or every souvenir they bought.
But they'll remember climbing over the rocks, feeling the salt in the air and holding your hand as the sun disappeared behind the ocean.
Those are the memories worth keeping.
Whether you're visiting for a long weekend or spending a week exploring the Sapphire Coast, Merimbula is one of those places where the days seem to fill themselves.
Here are a few of my family's favourite ways to slow down and enjoy this beautiful part of the world.
One of Bermagui's most iconic spots.
Children love watching the waves crash over the rocks while older kids often enjoy swimming in the ocean pool when conditions are suitable.
Perfect for younger children thanks to its sheltered beach, playground and grassy picnic areas.
It's a lovely place to spend the afternoon together.
A short drive north brings you to one of the Sapphire Coast's most recognisable rock formations.
The beach nearby is beautiful for exploring and often much quieter than larger beaches.
Hire a kayak, enjoy a picnic or simply wander along the shoreline.
The views towards Gulaga (Mount Dromedary) are spectacular, especially late in the afternoon.
One of my favourite things about photographing visiting families is that everyone is already relaxed.
There's no rushing between work and school pick-up.
No trying to squeeze family photos into an already busy week.
You're already barefoot.
The kids are already exploring.
Everyone is already making memories.
A family photography session simply becomes another afternoon of your holiday.
The best part?
Long after the suitcases are unpacked and the sand has disappeared from the car, you'll still have photographs that take you straight back to this little corner of the Sapphire Coast.
Wide open grassy areas, ocean views and plenty of room for children to run around before settling in to watch the sunset.
Wow… there are no words… I've never cried when receiving photos back from a photoshoot.. but wow these hit the spot There are no words! Our baby girl can treasure these photos forever

I am so glad to have chosen Areli for our maternity photos. She has an incredible talent at making you feel comfortable and at ease, even if you’re a little nervous about the whole thing. We had so much fun hanging out with her for the afternoon, and the photos couldn’t have been more perfect. The way she captures light and movement is just magic, nothing felt forced or posed.
Thank you so much Areli, we will treasure these photos and I can’t wait to have our new born session when our baby arrives

Every season has something beautiful to offer, but spring through autumn provides the warmest evenings and beautiful golden sunsets.
I provide wardrobe guidance after booking. Something comfortable, avoid black blacks and white white, feel free to add a pop of colour and personality if that feels right, but at the end of the day we want to keep the focus on connection rather than outfits. Most importantly, kick off your shoes and leave them at the entrance to the beach..
Around sunset is almost always my favourite.
The light is softer, children are usually happier after an afternoon adventure, and Bermagui really glows as the sun begins to disappear.
Many of my families travel from interstate or elsewhere in NSW to holiday on the Sapphire Coast.
My biggest tip is to stay for at least four nights if you can. Coastal weather can be beautifully unpredictable, and having a little flexibility means we can move your session if the forecast isn't on our side. Whenever I know you're travelling, I'll automatically keep a weather buffer around your session date so we have the best chance of capturing one of those magical Sapphire Coast sunsets.
A holiday is actually one of my favourite times to photograph families because everyone is already relaxed, spending quality time together, and making memories that deserve to be remembered long after the holiday is over..
